Azerbaijan developing master plans for four cities in Garabagh economic region
Currently, master plans are being prepared for 7 cities in the country, including 4 cities in the Garabagh economic region, Anar Guliyev, chairman of the Azerbaijani State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, has said.
He made the remarks at an event dedicated to World Human Settlements Day, held for the first time in Baku, APA reports,
“As you know, major restoration work is underway in the Garabagh region,” he added.
Addressing the event, Shahmar Movsumov, Assistant to the President, and Head of the Department for Economic Affairs and Innovative Development Policy of the Presidential Administration, said that the creation of urban centers is fundamental to achieving sustainable development goals.
According to him, sustainable settlement is of great importance for the planet: “The importance of settlement blurs demographic boundaries. This issue is also important for Azerbaijan. The creation of urban centres is fundamental to achieving sustainable development goals. I am confident that this event will contribute to the development of productive cooperation in the future.”
To recap, the events on the occasion of World Habitat Day are organized by the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture together with UN-HABITAT, as part of the “Urban Planning Week 2023”.
