Azerbaijan holds environmental working group meeting in Shusha
A new meeting of Azerbaijan’s Working Group on Environmental Issues, operating under the Interdepartmental Center of the Coordination Headquarters for the country’s liberated territories, has kciked off in the city of Shusha.
The session brought together representatives of relevant state institutions, the special presidential representative offices in Shusha, Lachin, Kalbajar, Aghdam, Fuzuli, Jabrayil, Gubadli, Zangilan, Aghdara, Khojaly, Khojavand districts, and Khankendi, as well as officials from Restoration, Construction and Management Services, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Participants were expected to review the implementation of environmental requirements in ongoing infrastructure projects and the management of green areas in the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions. The agenda also included updates on subsoil use, the condition and potential of mineral deposits and kahrizes (traditional underground water systems), and progress in safe solid waste management.
The meeting will additionally address concerns raised by attending organisations regarding environmental permits for infrastructure projects and measures to improve coordination and communication among agencies, in line with directives issued by the Coordination Headquarters.
