Azerbaijan, Islamic Development Bank join forces to boost Pakistan’s road infrastructure
Pakistan's National Highway Authority has revealed that Azerbaijan, in collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), is set to participate in the development of key road infrastructure projects across Pakistan.
Azerbaijan plans to invest $2 billion in various projects throughout the country, with a portion of the funds allocated to enhancing the national road network, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
One of the major projects Azerbaijan may finance is the M10 motorway, or the Karachi Northern Bypass—a 57-kilometer, two-lane highway located in the Manghopir area of Karachi, Sindh.
Additionally, Azerbaijan, alongside the IDB, may contribute funding to the M6 Sukkur-Hyderabad motorway project, valued at $1.2 billion.
The National Highway Authority has indicated that more details regarding the financing of these initiatives will be clarified by April.
Earlier, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, held a phone talk, discussing the further enhancement of bilateral ties between the two nations.
The ministers expressed their strong appreciation for the existing strategic relations between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, emphasizing the importance of continuing to deepen cooperation across various sectors.
They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the longstanding friendly and brotherly relations between the two countries.
