Azerbaijan marks anniversary of Armenia’s first missile attack on Ganja
Three years have passed since the Armenian armed forces' first missile strike on Ganja during the Second Garabagh War.
On October 4, 2020, around 10 a.m., Armenian-fired missiles hit a residential neighbourhood in Azerbaijan's second largest city, where a two-storey building and private houses were located.
As a result of the enemy bombardment in Ganja, one civilian - Aliyev Tunar Goshgar oglu - was killed and 32 civilians were wounded. The attack destroyed residential houses, civil infrastructure and historical buildings.
This missile attack by Armenia was the first serious strike on territory far from the war zone.
During the Second Garabagh War, Ganja was shelled five times by Armenian armed forces with heavy artillery and rockets (October 4, 5, 8, 11, 17). As a result, 26 people became martyrs, 175 were wounded, and civil infrastructure and vehicles were seriously damaged.
It should be noted that as a result of military aggression by Armenia during the Second Garabagh War 93 civilians were killed, including 12 children and 27 women, and 454 civilians were injured. A total of 12,292 residential and non-residential premises, 288 vehicles and 1,018 farms were seriously damaged.
