The Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Azerbaijani parliament, Sahiba Gafarova, has met with a visiting delegation led by the Prosecutor General of Mongolia, Jargalsaikhan Banzragch, during talks in Baku on May 6 focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Gafarova expressed hope that the visit would contribute to closer ties between the prosecution authorities of Azerbaijan and Mongolia, noting that relations between the two countries have developed on the basis of friendship, mutual support and respect since diplomatic ties were established in 1992, Caliber.Az reports via the parliament.
She highlighted the importance of high-level visits in deepening relations, referring in particular to discussions between President Ilham Aliyev and Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh during the latter’s visit to Azerbaijan for COP29 in November 2024.

Gafarova also underlined Azerbaijan’s cooperation with international organisations and provided an overview of the structure and legislative work of the Milli Majlis, noting that the current VII convocation was formed following elections held in 2024.
During the meeting, she discussed prospects for inter-parliamentary cooperation with Mongolia, including the work of a bilateral parliamentary friendship group.
The Mongolian prosecutor general shared impressions from his visit and discussed expanding cooperation between the two countries’ legal institutions. He said a newly signed memorandum of understanding between the Prosecutor General’s Offices of Azerbaijan and Mongolia would support the protection of citizens’ rights and help combat crime.
He also outlined Mongolia’s prosecutorial system and its cooperation with the country’s parliament, while both sides exchanged views on areas of mutual interest.
