Azerbaijan names volume of produced energy in 2023

In January-April 2023, Azerbaijan's thermal power plants (TPPs) produced 9 billion 266.1 million kWh of electricity.

During the reported period, the country has produced 586 million kWh of electricity from renewable sources, including water, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov said on Twitter.

Besides, the minister stressed that 9 billion 852.1 million kWh of electricity was produced in Azerbaijan in the same period.

According to Shahbazov, this is 6.5 per cent more than in the same period of 2022.

During this time, electricity exports amounted to 1 billion 244.1 million kWh, and imports - 41.1 million kWh.

In January-April 2023, Azerenerji OJSC produced 8 billion 892.8 million kWh of electricity, which makes up 90.3 per cent of the electricity produced throughout the country.

TPPs owned by the joint-stock company produced 8 billion 459.7 million kWh of energy, hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) - 433.1 million kWh of energy.

During the reported period, the share of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic’s State Energy Service accounted for 1.3 per cent of the generated electricity, or 128.95 million kW/h of electricity (85.91 million kW/h - thermal power plants, 25.69 million kW/h - hydroelectric power plants, 17 .35 million kWh - at solar power plants).

Within the first four months of 2023, Azerishyg OJSC produced 16.4 million kWh of energy at wind power plants, and 813.95 million kWh of energy at independent power plants, which is 0.2 per cent and 8.27 per cent of total production, respectively.

Electricity production in the country increased by 6.5 per cent, or 600.3 million kWh compared to January-April 2022, and amounted to 9 billion 852.1 million kWh.
