Azerbaijan neutralises over 1,500 unexploded munitions in Karabakh ANAMA weekly report
The Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) has released its weekly report on demining operations carried out in the liberated territories.
Between October 6 and 12, a total of 77 anti-personnel mines, 100 anti-tank mines, and 1,584 pieces of unexploded ordnance were detected and neutralised in the districts of Tartar, Aghdara, Kalbajar, Aghdam, Khojaly, Khojavand, Lachin, Shusha, Fuzuli, Gubadli, Jabrayil, Gazakh, Zangilan, as well as in the city of Khankendi, ANAMA told Caliber.Az.
In total, an area of 1,497.5 hectares was cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance.
Since the end of the 2020 war, landmines have killed or injured around 400 people in Azerbaijan, adding to a total of more than 3,400 victims since the 1990s. The casualties include a significant number of women and children.
Armenia’s refusal to provide accurate minefield maps and its continued use of mines in civilian areas have deepened the humanitarian crisis.
