Azerbaijan neutralises over 3,000 unexploded munitions in Karabakh ANAMA weekly report / VIDEO

17 November 2025 13:35

The Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) has released its weekly report on demining operations carried out in the liberated territories.

Between November 1 and 16, a total of 256 anti-personnel mines, 127 anti-tank mines, and 3,207 pieces of unexploded ordnance were detected and neutralised in the districts of Tartar, Aghdara, Kalbajar, Aghdam, Khojaly, Khojavand, Lachin, Shusha, Fuzuli, Gubadli, Jabrayil, Gazakh, Zangilan, as well as in the city of Khankendi, ANAMA told Caliber.Az.

In total, an area of 2,894.7 hectares was cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance.

Following the Second Karabakh War in 2020, ANAMA has played a central role in removing mines and unexploded ordnance from territories returned under Baku’s control.

The agency has systematically surveyed and cleared thousands of hectares contaminated with anti-tank and anti-personnel mines, as well as unexploded shells and rockets left from the conflict.

ANAMA’s work has focused on restoring civilian safety, enabling resettlement, and supporting reconstruction in liberated areas.

Since the end of the 2020 war, landmines have killed or injured around 400 people in Azerbaijan, adding to a total of more than 3,400 victims since the 1990s. The casualties include a significant number of women and children.
