Azerbaijan planning to relocate about 2,000 IDP families to Garabagh in 2023 - agency
By the end of 2023, Azerbaijan is planning to relocate 2,000 IDP families, or about 10,000 people, to their native lands.
Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons of Azerbaijan Fuad Huseynov made the statement while speaking to reporters at the ceremony of seeing off the first 23 families to Fuzuli, Report informs.
“Today we are already sending the first families to our native Fuzuli, the largest, one of the most ancient, charming corners of Karabakh, our country. I cordially congratulate all residents of Fuzuli, Garabagh people, former internally displaced persons, and our people on this event. Today, a caravan of 23 families, 90 people, is leaving the Gobu residential complex, which will return to the city of Fuzuli at the first stage. The shipment is carried out in accordance with the First State Program for the Great Return to the liberated territories of Azerbaijan approved by the president,” Fuad Huseynov said.
He noted that in total about 400 families of former IDPs, that is, about 2,000 people, were resettled to the East Zangazur and Karabakh economic regions for permanent residence.
“By the end of 2023, it is planned to resettle 2,000 families of IDPs to their native lands, that is, about 10,000 more people. We are confident that in the coming months, this process will become more intense and the first State Program for the Great Return will be implemented on time and at the highest level. Taking this opportunity, I wish the families returning to Fuzuli a prosperous life,” Fuad Huseynov added.
