Azerbaijan questions Armenia’s intentions over Minsk Group preservation
Azerbaijani presidential aide Hikmet Hajiyev has voiced concerns regarding Armenia's intentions with the Minsk Group and its associated institutions.
Speaking to journalists in Kalbajar on September 18, Hajiyev expressed scepticism about Armenia’s efforts to preserve these bodies, suggesting that they may signal hidden motives, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Hajiyev emphasized that the Minsk Group, as it stands, no longer serves a purpose, asserting, “Such an institution did not exist, and its continued operation in any form is completely ruled out.”
He further argued that the activities of the Minsk Group and related institutions should cease entirely.
Highlighting Azerbaijan’s stance, Hajiyev mentioned that Azerbaijan has called for Armenia to show a unified position on this issue within the OSCE framework.
However, he remained doubtful about Armenia’s commitment, stating, “Armenia's attempts to preserve the Minsk Group and related institutions may indicate its other intentions. This does not arouse our confidence.”
