Azerbaijan reasserts faith in OSCE, highlights need for institutional renewal
Azerbaijan has reiterated its commitment to constructive engagement within the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), even as it acknowledges existing shortcomings in the organization’s operations.
Addressing the 32nd OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Vienna, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted the continued relevance of the organization in fostering regional security and multilateral cooperation, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“We continue to believe in the role of the OSCE due to its comprehensive security concept and the broad participation of countries,” FM Bayramov stated, emphasizing the organization’s inclusive framework.
At the same time, he noted that the OSCE must evolve to maintain its effectiveness, insisting that tangible results are necessary to sustain its relevance.
The minister underscored the importance of collective decision-making, saying that only joint measures can yield meaningful outcomes.
“The principle of consensus must remain an essential pillar of our collective endeavors and a foundational element of the decision-making process. With this in mind, we stand ready to engage constructively with all OSCE participating states to address the organization’s challenges of functionality and effectiveness,” Bayramov concluded.
