Azerbaijan relocates another group of families to Vangli village in Aghdara
As part of Azerbaijan’s Great Return programme, the next relocation convoy has departed for the village of Vangli in the Aghdara district, marking another milestone in the country’s efforts to restore the homes of internally displaced persons (IDPs).
At this stage, 29 families, totaling 105 people, are being resettled in Vangli. With the latest relocation, a total of 51 families (188 people) have now returned to the village, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
These families had been temporarily accommodated across the country, including in dormitories, sanatoriums, and administrative buildings, in cities such as Kurdamir, Baku, Aghdam, Yevlakh, Imishli, Aghsu, Shamakhi, Goranboy, Gakh, Barda, and Mingachevir.
Earlier, on August 8, 15 families (46 people) returned to Khanyurdu village in Azerbaijan’s Khojaly district, further advancing the programme’s objectives.
Launched following the end of occupation in November 2020, the Great Return programme is a comprehensive initiative designed to enable IDPs to return safely and with dignity to their ancestral homelands. The first phase, scheduled for completion by 2026, aims to resettle 140,000 IDPs across 100 settlements, with the long-term goal of full restoration by 2040.
