Azerbaijan's ambitious Zangezur highway project enters final construction phase VIDEO
AzVirt has released new footage showcasing the ongoing construction of the Goradiz-Jabrayil-Zangilan-Aghband motorway, also known as the Zangezur corridor, which spans 123.6 kilometres.
The foundation for this ambitious project was laid by the presidents of Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
According to Caliber.Az, the construction is now in its final stages.
The motorway begins at Ahmedbeyli village in Fuzuli district and is being built to international standards for first-category highways. The road consists of a 77.5-kilometre section with 6 lanes and a 46.1-kilometre section with 4 lanes, with respective roadway widths of 29.5 meters and 21.5 meters.
The project includes three road tunnels totalling 6 kilometres in length, and significant progress has been made with asphalt concrete pavement already laid on many sections. Completion of the entire motorway is expected by 2025.
The Goradiz-Jabrayil-Zangilan-Aghband road forms a crucial part of the Hajigabul-Goradiz-Aghband-Zangezur highway, playing a pivotal role in the economic development of Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur.
