Azerbaijan’s ANAMA clears nearly 2,000 hectares of mines

The Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action has cleared nearly 2,000 hectares of mines and unexploded ordnance between July 13 and 19.

The agency said demining teams discovered and neutralised 200 anti-personnel mines, 28 anti-tank mines and 630 pieces of unexploded ordnance in the districts of Tartar, Aghdara, Kalbajar, Aghdam, Khojaly, Khojavand, Lachin, Shusha, Fuzuli, Gubadli, Jabrayil, Gazakh and Zangilan, as well as the city of Khankendi, Caliber.Az reports.

The ANAMA releases its weekly report on demining operations carried out in the country's liberated territories.

According to the agency, 287,385 hectares of land in the liberated territories have been cleared to date.

A total of 255,200 explosive devices have been detected and neutralised, including 189,097 other explosive ordnance, 42,235 anti-personnel mines and 23,868 anti-tank mines.

ANAMA uses modern technologies, mechanical demining equipment, mine-detection dogs and trained specialists in its operations.
