During the meeting, the sides also discussed the work to be done in preparation for consultations on Article IV of the IMF Articles of Agreement and the IMF support program for Azerbaijan's future development.
The IMF was established in 1944 in the aftermath of the Great Depression of the 1930s. Some 44 founding member countries sought to build a framework for international economic cooperation. Today, its membership embraces 190 countries, with staff drawn from 150 nations.
The IMF is governed by and accountable to those 190 countries that make up its near-global membership.
