Azerbaijan’s GDP to surpass $78 billion next year, finance chief says
Azerbaijan’s gross domestic product (GDP) is expected to reach 134.1 billion manats ($78.8 billion) in 2026, increasing by 2.9% compared to 2025, Finance Minister Sahil Babayev has said.
He made the statement during a meeting of the Parliament’s Committee on Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship, where the draft law “On the State Budget for 2026” was discussed, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
“Over the past five years, our GDP, according to the budget, has grown by 36.7 billion manats [$21.5 billion] in nominal terms, or by 39.3%. In real terms, this means growth of 19%,” the minister said.
Babayev highlighted that the 2026 budget package ensures macroeconomic, fiscal, and monetary stability, and fully takes into account measures to ensure the country’s defence capability and security, as well as provides full funding for social initiatives.
The minister also emphasised that the draft state budget for 2026 fully includes measures to strengthen the country’s defence capability and ensure national security.
He stressed that the budget draft reflects all priorities set by the head of state, including tasks to ensure citizens’ social welfare, restore the liberated territories, and further develop the economy.
“All social programs are fully funded in the draft budget,” Babayev said.
He also stated that Karabakh and East Zangezur remain in the spotlight, where the implementation of the “Great Return” program and other state projects continues.
“The budget provides for funds to restore the liberated territories, ensure the safe return of citizens, and create conditions for their dignified lives,” Babayev emphasised.
In addition, the minister noted that the document includes measures aimed at developing the economy, attracting investments, and improving infrastructure.
