Azerbaijan's mining agency clears over 256 hectares of landmines in Gazakh district
The Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) has cleared 256 hectares of land from mines in the liberated villages of the Gazakh district as part of ongoing demining operations conducted from April 2024 to the present.
According to official data, during this period, 1,102 anti-tank mines, 125 anti-personnel mines, and 62 improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were detected and neutralised in the area, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Overall, since November 2020, demining efforts across Azerbaijan’s liberated territories have resulted in the clearance of 265,597 hectares of land. During this time, a total of 41,560 anti-personnel mines, 23,450 anti-tank mines, and 184,067 explosive devices have been neutralised.
