Azerbaijan starts tearing down separatists' building in Khankendi PHOTO
On September 2, the demolition of the building housing the so-called “Ministry of Foreign Affairs” of the self-proclaimed regime in Khankendi began. For years, the building had been presented as one of the regime’s main symbols.
The demolition was symbolically timed to coincide with the anniversary of the declaration of the separatist regime on the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The building had hosted meetings with pro-Armenian foreign politicians visiting the occupied territories, issued visas for entry, and conducted illegal accreditation of foreign journalists—actions viewed as a violation of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty.
Babayan and others, currently on trial at the Baku Military Court, had previously stated in this building that the Azerbaijani flag could only be raised in Karabakh if an embassy were established there.
