Azerbaijan to attract almost 300,000 pupils to STEAM education Minister of Education says

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Education Emin Amrullayev has said that the STEAM educational methodology will enroll 280,000 pupils in Azerbaijan in 2026.

Amrullayev made these remarks at the 16th Congress of Azerbaijani Teachers in Baku, Caliber.Az reports.

He noted that teachers are interested only in subjects which they teach, which negatively affects pupils’ learning.

“However, the STEAM educational methodology has a different approach. For example, flying a drone requires much attention. A pupil should know mathematics and other subjects to understand the operating principle of a drone,” the minister added.

Amrullayev said that progress was observed in the education sector in Azerbaijan until 2020, but this trend slowed down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It is necessary to return to the education level which was before COVID-19 during the next five years. The COVID-19 consequences for education will be long-lasting,” the minister emphasised.
