Azerbaijan to spend over $15 million for reconstruction of Gubadli's Mahruzlu village

Reconstruction and construction efforts are actively underway in Mahruzlu village of Azerbaijan’s Gubadli district, with a projected budget of 26.4 million manats ($15.5 million).

The comprehensive development plan for Mahruzlu includes the construction of non-residential buildings and the installation of essential intra-district engineering systems such as water supply, sewerage, gas pipelines, electricity, communication networks, and internal roads, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

In this regard, the Rehabilitation, Construction and Management Service in the Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan districts has begun preparations.

Located 19 kilometres from the district centre, Mahruzlu spans a total area of 197 hectares. The village, which fell under Armenian occupation in 1992, was liberated by the Azerbaijani Army on November 9, 2020, during the Second Karabakh War.

Gubadli, a town in southwestern Azerbaijan, was occupied by Armenian forces on August 31, 1993. During the occupation, significant destruction occurred, including the demolition of religious, historical, and cultural monuments, as well as environmental degradation through deforestation and ecological damage.

On October 25, 2020, during the Second Karabakh War, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces liberated the Gubadli region from Armenian occupation. This operation was part of a broader counter-offensive that began on September 27, 2020, leading to the liberation of several regions. The success in Gubadli was marked by intense battles, resulting in the destruction of a significant number of enemy personnel and equipment.
