"The implementation of this document will encourage knowledge exchange on developing the National Spatial Data Infrastructure, enhance human resources in this field, and foster the growth of companies specialising in the development of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in the private sector," Aliyev stated.
Note that, Environmental Systems Research Institute Inc. (Esri), founded in 1969 by Jack and Laura Dangermond, is a privately held company headquartered in Redlands, California.
Esri is a global leader in geographic information system (GIS) software, providing tools that enable organizations to visualize, analyze, and interpret spatial data. Its flagship product, ArcGIS, is widely used across various sectors, including government, healthcare, transportation, and utilities, to inform decision-making and enhance operational efficiency.
Esri's commitment to environmental sustainability is evident through its partnerships with organizations like the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
These collaborations leverage GIS technology to address climate change, biodiversity conservation, and environmental justice issues. The company also supports educational initiatives by offering free software and training to K-12 schools and nonprofits, fostering the next generation of geospatial professionals.
With over 6,000 employees, Esri continues to innovate and expand its impact globally, maintaining a strong presence in the GIS industry.
