Azerbaijani border guards foil major drug smuggling attempt from Iran

As part of ongoing efforts to ensure the reliable protection of the state border and combat illegal drug trafficking, Azerbaijani border guards successfully intercepted a large shipment of narcotics.

On August 5 at 17:15, within the service territory of the Goytapa border detachment of the State Border Service's Border Troops, 25 kg 350 g of marijuana and 1,600 M-40 methadone tablets were prevented from being smuggled from Iran into Azerbaijan.

The State Border Guard Service informed Caliber.Az that operative-investigative actions related to the incident are ongoing.
