Azerbaijani deminer injured in Khojaly landmine blast
An employee of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) was injured on February 18 in a mine-related incident in the recently liberated village of Mukhtar, Khojaly District.
Vasif Chobanov, born in 2000, was carrying out official duties when he triggered an anti-personnel mine, Caliber.Az reports, citing ANAMA.
He sustained injuries to his left arm and face.
Chobanov was promptly evacuated to the district hospital, where medical staff reported his condition as stable. There is no immediate threat to his life.
Since the end of the 2020 Patriotic War, 415 people in Azerbaijan have fallen victim to landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO), including 71 fatalities and 344 injuries, bringing the total number of victims since the 1990s to over 3,400.
