Azerbaijani Deputy FM leads talks on investment and political ties in Suriname PHOTO
Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov led a governmental delegation to Suriname from March 3 to 5 to explore the prospects of enhancing multilateral political ties between the two nations.
The Azerbaijani delegation included officials from the Ministries of Economy, Energy, Science and Education, and Agriculture, as well as representatives from the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and AzərGold CJSC, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.
During the visit, Mammadov met with Suriname's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Albert Ramdin, and his deputy, Miriam McKintosh.
The discussions centred around a range of topics, including the potential for high-level reciprocal visits, investment cooperation, transportation development, green energy initiatives, and humanitarian projects.
The visit also marked the first-ever political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Suriname's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The two sides reviewed the current state and future prospects of their bilateral and multilateral political relationships.
Following these discussions, Mammadov delivered a presentation on Azerbaijan's foreign policy priorities and provided an interview with the state media agency CDS.
To conclude the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation met with officials from Suriname's State Oil Company, Staatsoile, and toured the Tout Lui Fo oil refinery.
