Azerbaijani economy minister explores strategic partnerships & green energy co-op in Italy visit
Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov held a series of meetings with key Italian ministers during his visit to Italy, underscoring the importance of the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Italy.
The discussions highlighted Azerbaijan's pivotal role in the Middle Corridor, a vital trade route connecting East and West, and presented attractive investment opportunities for entrepreneurs, Caliber.Az reports per the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy.
Minister Jabbarov and Adolfo Urso, Minister of Companies and Products Made in Italy, emphasized the successful collaboration of Italian companies in various sectors of Azerbaijan's economy. They discussed expanding partnerships between business circles and enhancing bilateral economic relations.
In a separate meeting with Italian Minister of Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto-Fratini, positive results of cooperation in the energy sector were noted. The Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), a segment of the Southern Gas Corridor, was highlighted as a significant milestone in the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Azerbaijan expressed interest in collaborating with Italian companies experienced in green energy supply, production, and transportation of green hydrogen. The project to export green energy from Central Asian countries through Azerbaijan to Europe, supporting the green transition, was emphasized.
The ministers also exchanged views on COP29 priorities, global benefits, and potential partnership opportunities. Additionally, Minister Jabbarov met with Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry Francesco Lollobrigida, discussing sustainable economic growth, efficient resource utilization, and food security. Both sides expressed their intention to develop partnerships and realize the existing potential for further cooperation.
The active participation of numerous Italian companies in various sectors of Azerbaijan's economy, including reconstruction projects in the liberated territories, highlights the robust economic ties and potential for further expansion of this partnership.
