In his address, the minister highlighted the declaration signed in July this year, which established a strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and China, stating, "This agreement is crucial for enhancing our energy partnership within the framework of the Silk Road project."
He also elaborated on the "green energy corridors" that are instrumental in creating integrated regional electricity markets between Asia and Europe.
"We discussed the prospects for cooperation with China regarding these projects," Shahbazov added.
This conference underscores Azerbaijan's commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation in the energy sector as part of the wider Belt and Road Initiative.
Notably, the third high-level forum on international cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative was inaugurated in Beijing, where Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasised the fundamental principles of high-quality collaboration within the initiative.
Representatives from over 110 countries attended the forum, which included various sessions such as an opening ceremony and three high-level discussions centred on connectivity, sustainable development, and the digital economy.
The "Belt and Road Initiative," originally proposed by Xi Jinping in 2013, merges the "Economic Silk Road" with the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road." According to official Chinese statistics, this initiative covers a vast area of Eurasia, connecting both developing and developed nations.
