Severe snowfall leaves hundreds of climbers, tourists stranded on Everest
Approximately 1,000 climbers and tourists have been trapped on the eastern slope of Mount Everest in Tibet due to one of the heaviest snowfalls in recent years, according to the Chinese newspaper Sanxiang Daily.
The blizzard began on Saturday, sharply reducing visibility to just one meter. In some areas, tents were completely buried under snow. Tourists are unable to leave the area on their own due to deep snowdrifts, ongoing precipitation, and severe weather conditions.
Rescue operations have been hampered by low visibility and unstable conditions, making it difficult for teams to reach those stranded. Chinese authorities have not yet confirmed the exact number of affected individuals but assure that all possible measures are being taken to evacuate them safely.
