Baku, Astana expand cooperation in peaceful nuclear technology
Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan have held discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation in the nuclear industry and the peaceful use of nuclear technologies.
According to the press release by the Kazakhstan Atomic Energy Agency, cited by Caliber.Az, the meeting brought together the agency’s chairman, Almasadam Satkaliyev, and Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister, Parviz Shahbazov.
The talks focused on sharing experience in the regulation and supervision of nuclear activities, ensuring nuclear and radiation safety, conducting environmental monitoring, and managing radioactive materials.
The discussion also covered the training and professional development of specialists, as well as prospects for diversification and the adoption of modern technologies.
“Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are brotherly countries, united by long-standing ties and a common desire to develop safe and peaceful nuclear energy. We intend to continue exchanging experience and strengthening cooperation for the benefit of our countries and the entire region,” Satkaliyev said.
Following the meeting, both sides expressed their commitment to further developing their partnership and confirmed their readiness to reinforce cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
