Azerbaijani ombudsman to present new report on Armenian war crimes

02 December 2024 10:21

On December 10, World Human Rights Day, Azerbaijan's Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) Sabina Aliyeva will unveil a detailed report on war crimes committed by Armenia during the occupation of Azerbaijan's Karabakh Region.

Aliyeva made this announcement in an interview with Report's Ankara bureau, according to Caliber.Az.

She stated that comprehensive information about the report will be shared with the press on that day.

The ombudsman also highlighted that the issue was addressed during her speech at the 24th session of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (IPHRC-OIC) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24.

According to Aliyeva, "Karabakh remains the central theme of all our initiatives."

"The OIC’s Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission has consistently supported Azerbaijan on this matter. The Khojaly genocide has been recognized by the OIC as an act of genocide, and the organization has strongly condemned the Armenian shelling of Barda. Various resolutions and decisions are regularly adopted in this regard. Our joint report will also be presented."

Sabina Aliyeva is currently in Ankara to participate in the inaugural session of the International Council of the Union of Mediators of the Turkic World (TDAB).

The upcoming report is expected to shed further light on the consequences of the occupation and reinforce Azerbaijan's efforts to hold Armenia accountable for its actions in Karabakh.
