Azerbaijani president grants financial aid to public broadcaster

President Ilham Aliyev has signed an order to finance Azerbaijan's public broadcaster ITV.

Under the decree, 940,500 euros in manat equivalent [1.7 million manats/$1.01 million] was allocated from the president’s reserve fund to ITV to purchase the right to broadcast the European Football Championship in Germany in 2024, Caliber.Az reports, citing the president’s official website.

Baku-based İTV is a public television channel in Azerbaijan. After its legal creation in early 2004, the station began broadcasting on 29 August 2005, making it the first independent public broadcaster in Azerbaijan.
