Azerbaijan's "Khojaly" carrier achieves milestone with 30,000-tonne sulphur shipment from US to Mexico Photo
The Azerbaijani vessel "Khojaly," a Handysize dry bulk carrier owned by Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), has successfully transported 30,000 tonnes of sulphur from Long Beach, California, to Santa Rosalia, Mexico.
According to Mehman Mehdiyev, head of the Press Service at ASCO, the vessel unloaded its cargo at the port before taking on ballast water and heading for Portland, USA, to load its next shipment, Caliber.Az reports.
Notably, the "Khojaly" was put into operation in May 2024 as part of ASCO’s strategy to expand its shipping capacity beyond the Caspian Sea and broaden its operational geography.
The vessel boasts unrestricted navigation capabilities, with a deadweight of 38,593 tonnes, a length of 180 metres, a width of 30 metres, a draft of 10.47 metres, and a maximum speed of 15.7 knots. Its shallow draft allows it to access many shallow-water ports, making it a versatile asset for international trade.
