Baykar aims to start manufacturing UAVs in Ukraine in 2025
Turkish drone magnate Baykar expects to kick off the manufacture of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) Bayraktar TB2 and Bayraktar Akinci in Ukraine in 2025.
"Construction work at Baykar's local subsidiary [in Ukraine], Avia Ventures LLC, is progressing as planned, with an opening scheduled for 2025," the company's CEO Haluk Bayraktar said, Yeni Akit reports on June 23.
The head of the company noted that "the main part of the preparatory work [at the plant] is already underway."
According to him, "the plant is expected to be electrified in July”.
In August 2022, the information on the start of construction of a factory for the production of Turkish drones Bayraktar in Ukraine was released to the public.
Ukraine's ambassador to Türkiye Vasyl Bodnar reported that the construction would take several months, and the launch was possible before the end of 2023. However, in an interview with Ukrinform published on January 13, Bodnar said that the hostilities "have made adjustments to the original plans for the plant."
