Death toll rises to five following explosion at factory in Russia’s Ryazan
An explosion at the Elastik factory in Russia’s Ryazan region has tragically claimed five lives, with several others injured and some still trapped under the rubble, local authorities confirmed.
The blast occurred earlier today in a powder shop within the factory, where gunpowder is produced, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
The incident is believed to have resulted from a safety violation, leading to the complete destruction of the workshop. Emergency responders continue their efforts to reach those trapped amid difficult access conditions. Three injured individuals have already been transported to nearby hospitals for urgent medical care.
In response to the explosion, over 100 factory workers were evacuated as a precautionary measure. Authorities have launched a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident, focusing on safety compliance and operational protocols at the facility.
