Uzbekistan, Iran to hold 17th intergovernmental commission meeting
Uzbekistan and Iran have agreed to convene the 17th meeting of their Intergovernmental Commission in the fourth quarter of this year, as both sides move to deepen economic and industrial cooperation, according to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and Iran’s Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Seyed Mohammad Atabak on the sidelines of the 4th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Meeting of Industry Ministers in Bishkek, Caliber.Az reports.
The two officials discussed ways to expand bilateral trade, strengthen industrial collaboration, and improve transport and logistics connectivity between the two countries.
According to the ministry statement, both sides highlighted the positive trajectory in economic relations, noting that trade turnover increased by 48.1% in January–April 2026 compared to the same period last year.
Investment cooperation has also continued to grow, with 228 enterprises involving Iranian capital currently operating in Uzbekistan as of April 1, the statement said.
