Armenia says economic cooperation talks with Azerbaijan underway
Armenian Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan has stated that, since August 8, his country has actively discussed economic relations with Azerbaijan.
Speaking at a briefing, Grigoryan said he hopes Armenia will have the opportunity to move forward in this direction as soon as possible, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“We are exploring ways to expand as much as possible in various areas, including both Armenian exports to Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani exports to Armenia,” he noted.
According to him, there is currently mutual interest on both sides in developing this direction.
He added that Armenia will continue to actively promote its peace agenda and make efforts to sign and ratify a peace treaty as soon as possible.
Grigoryan further stated that the process of delimiting the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, as well as initialising of a peace agreement and the Washington conference, have created new opportunities for lifting the blockade.
“The southern direction has also become a necessity in the context of lifting the blockade. We hope to achieve progress in this direction as soon as possible. The purpose of the recent meeting in Armenia between the deputy prime ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia was also to accelerate the border delimitation process as much as possible,” he said.
