Bayraktar: "killer drone" or "weapon of hope"? Baykar head on West's double standards
There were people who were happy about the Canadian embargo on Türkiye, TEKNOFEST board chairman Selcuk Bayraktar said while taking questions on air of TRT Haber.
"We said at the time that Canada's implementation of this decision would not change anything for us. We have a local camera, we continued with it. I warned that if Canada needed UAVs tomorrow or the day after, it would be a big problem for them to buy from us. A year has passed and the Canadians have raised the money to buy a Bayraktar UAV for Ukraine. A UAV that was embargoed by their own authorities. They referred to Bayraktar TB2 in Azerbaijan as a 'Killer Drone' and called it a 'Weapon of Hope' in Ukraine. It doesn't matter what others say, as long as you are right. It is clear why we created the UAV. We developed this technology so that my country could be fully independent," Bayraktar said.
He noted that Türkiye has made great strides in the defence industry. There is demand for Turkish UAVs in 30 countries. Romania has recently bought them, other European countries also want to buy these drones. According to him, there is a serious demand for other Turkish defence industrial complexes as well.
