Belarus media: Azerbaijan seeks to turn liberated lands into country's most advanced part

Azerbaijan is not just actively implementing the "Great Return" programme in the liberated territories but is striving to make this region the most advanced part of the country.

According to Report, this is stated in an article by Belarus Today dedicated to the restoration of the lands of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation.

"Any war sooner or later ends. After comes the time of revival. In the case of Garabagh, we are not even talking about restoration, but rather about building a new one in place of the irretrievably lost one. The land scarred by military actions requires special attention and care," the article says.

Having seen the progress of reconstruction works, the author notes that the construction of new structures in Garabagh is going on 24/7: "Azerbaijan plans to rebuild a territory the size of Montenegro in the shortest possible time. But perhaps the process could go even faster if it were not for the mine risk. Unexploded ordnance and minefields are echoes of the war, which are now the main difficulty during the works on these territories".

The publication's correspondents have visited Aghdam and Fuzuli and note that special attention is being paid to the reconstruction of the region.

"At the moment, infrastructure projects are being erected in the city of Aghdam. Roads, several residential complexes, irrigation canals, and electric cables are being built. A school for 1,000 pupils and a hotel with a conference hall are ready. A large area of the district has already been cleared and handed over for the construction of roads and communications. And as soon as demining works are fully completed, a direct road from Aghdam to Fuzuli will be laid" the author writes.

The article adds that the highways are being built at a cosmic speed: "So far it is possible to move around Garabagh mainly on off-road (with rare access to parts of the completed highways), but by the amount of construction equipment involved in the construction of road infrastructure, it is obvious that the opening of the highways is only months away. What can we talk about if the airport near Fuzuli was built in seven months?"
