As part of his ongoing visit to Azerbaijan, Prime Minister of Belarus Alexander Turchin visited the village of Gizil Kangarli in the Aghdam region, where the construction of a large agricultural holding is planned.

The project will be implemented by the government of Belarus and will give impetus to the development of livestock, poultry and vegetable growing in the region, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

The commissioning of the enterprise is scheduled for 2027. As part of the project, a settlement for 420 families will also be built in the Aghdam region.

The initiative to build an agro-town in the Karabakh economic region was proposed by the Belarusian side during the state visit to Azerbaijan of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in 2024.

Prime Minister of Belarus Alexander Turchin has arrived in the city of Fuzuli as part of his ongoing visit to Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

During the trip, the Belarusian premier was informed about the Fuzuli International Airport. The Airport, known as the air gateway to Karabakh, was built at the most modern level.

Turchin was also informed about the destruction caused in Fuzuli, which was under Armenian occupation for nearly 30 years, as well as the restoration and construction efforts carried out by Azerbaijan following the liberation of the district from occupation. During the 30-year-long occupation, Fuzuli city, like other territories, was plundered and devastated. All houses, social facilities and farms were destroyed.

It was noted that large-scale restoration and reconstruction efforts were launched immediately after the Victory in the 44-day Patriotic War in these areas. A residential block has been built in Fuzuli city, and former IDPs are already returning to their native lands.

The school built in Fuzuli as a gift from President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on behalf of the Uzbek people had the capacity to accommodate 960 students.

The Kurmangazy Children's Creativity Center in the city of Fuzuli is a gift from the fraternal Kazakh people.

Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov and Belarusian Prime Minister Alexander Turchin then headed to the Aghdam district.

The visit program includes a visit to the Aghdam Industrial Park and the agro-town project to be implemented in the Gizil Kangarli village of the region.

Currently, 27 business entities are residents of the park and another 5 are non-residents.

Investments in projects in the park are estimated at $148 million, which will create more than 2,100 jobs. Investors have already invested $66 million and created 649 jobs.

Currently, 9 enterprises operate in the park. In addition, more than 10 new enterprises are under construction.

Aghdam Industrial Park was established by presidential decree dated May 28, 2021.

The park's priority areas of activity include production of construction materials, packaging of agricultural products, canning of fruits and vegetables, production of meat and dairy products, fodder, fertilisers, as well as the creation of service facilities, cold rooms, etc.

The area of the park is 190 hectares, and more than 70% of the territory has already been transferred to the disposal of entrepreneurs.

The documents signed between Azerbaijan and Belarus on October 3, 2024, envisage the development of agricultural production in the Aghdam region and the design of an agro-town in the Gizil Kangarli village of the region.

Earlier today, May 6, Turchin was hosted by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Turchin arrived on an official visit in Baku on May 5 before midday. Furthermore, he attended an expanded meeting with Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov.
