Blinken urges to stop Russian cooperation with Iran, North Korea, China
The United States has outlined two critical conditions that must be met to achieve peace in Ukraine, one of which is Russia's cessation of military cooperation with Iran, North Korea, and China.
In a statement at the United Nations Security Council meeting, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized that resolving the conflict hinges on addressing Russia's growing ties with these nations, which have been providing support to Moscow’s military actions, Caliber.Az reports, citing the statement.
“There are two immediate and interrelated steps that we must take. First, we must address Russia’s growing cooperation with North Korea and Iran,” Blinken added.
Blinken reiterated that Iran supplies UAVs to Russia and has built a drone manufacturing plant in Russia, and handed over hundreds of short-range ballistic missiles to Russia just a few weeks ago. Meanwhile, the DPRK is delivering trains of weapons and ammunition to Russia, including rocket launchers and millions of artillery shells.
“These actions by Iran, North Korea, and Russia have violated multiple Security Council resolutions – resolutions that Russia voted for, and as a permanent member, has a special responsibility to enforce,” Blinken added.
He added that the more Russia relies on their support, the more Iran and North Korea extract in return.
