Bloomberg: Türkiye eyes massive Boeing and Lockheed Martin purchases
Türkiye is planning to purchase hundreds of passenger aircraft from American manufacturer Boeing, along with fighter jets from military contractor Lockheed Martin, while also seeking to bring back the production of certain components to Turkish soil.
According to the sources quoted by Bloomberg, during a scheduled meeting at the White House on September 25, US President Donald Trump is expected to review a proposal from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The proposal would allow Türkiye to offset payments for American aircraft with local production deals valued at over $10 billion.
The sources indicated that following the meeting, the United States could lift a ban on 10 Turkish companies involved in producing parts for the F-35 fighter jets, including the central fuselage components. Such a move would enable these companies to generate approximately $12 billion in revenue and provide a significant boost to Türkiye's military-industrial sector.
In addition to these negotiations, Turkish authorities are planning to complete the purchase of 40 latest-generation F-16 fighter jets, alongside hundreds of bombs, guided missiles, and spare engines.
The sources noted that Ankara initially intended to procure 79 sets of equipment to modernise its F-16 fleet as part of a $23 billion deal, but later opted to focus on acquiring the F-35A.
