The British Council has announced that its office in Kyiv sustained significant damage during a Russian missile strike on the Ukrainian capital overnight.
The cultural and educational institution confirmed the incident in a statement published on its official Facebook page, noting that the premises will remain closed to visitors until further notice, Caliber.Az reports.
“Following last night’s attack on Kyiv, our British Council office has been severely damaged and will be closed to visitors until further notice. In the night of August 28, Russia carried out a massive combined strike on Kyiv, launching a wave of missiles and drones that caused widespread destruction across the capital.
Damage has been reported at more than 20 locations, with children among the victims.
Authorities confirmed that eight people have been killed and 45 others injured, including children. Emergency aircraft have been deployed to assist in managing the aftermath of the strikes.
In the Darnytskyi district, a high-rise residential building was completely destroyed, and rescue teams are continuing debris removal operations. In central Kyiv, a shopping centre sustained serious damage, adding to the widespread devastation across the city.
According to preliminary data, about 100 sites were damaged during the attack.
