Candidate for Moldovan PM’s post: Integration into EU - priority
Secretary of the Supreme Security Council Dorin Recean, nominated by the Moldovan president for the post of prime minister, has said that the process of Moldova’s integration into the EU is his main priority.
“European integration will be the main aspect in the programme of the new cabinet of ministers. It is necessary to give an additional impetus to this process, to coordinate legislation, to fulfill the obligations assumed to the EU,” Recean said during a joint briefing with Moldovan President Maia Sandu and Chairman of the ruling Action and Solidarity Party Igor Grosu on February 10, TASS reports.
He also named three more priority spheres for the government.
“Among these priority spheres are order and discipline in state institutions, they should serve people and business. Secondly, it is necessary to give an impetus to the economy, which needs investments. The third is peace and stability. We need consolidation in the field of security for everyone to feel protected,” the candidate said.
Recean is an adviser to the Moldovan president on security and defence. Previously, he headed the Interior Ministry in the governments of Vlad Filat and Iurie Leanca. Recean must submit the composition and programme of the new cabinet of ministers to the parliament for approval within 14 days. Chairman of the Action and Solidarity Party, controlling the legislative body, Igor Grosu supports Recean’s candidature.
