Chairman: Constitutional Court made great contribution to democracy development

The Constitutional Court has made a great contribution to the development of democracy and strengthening the traditions of statehood in Azerbaijan, Supreme Court Chairman Inam Karimov said.

He made the remarks at the "Development of legislation through the implementation of constitutional norms" international conference held in Baku on July 4, Report informs.

According to him, the establishment of the Constitutional Court was an important step which stimulated the development of legal state-building.

"The Constitution, as an integral part of the country’s political culture, forms the basis of its functionality. The Constitution, as the country’s supreme law, also defines the boundaries of rights and freedoms of a democratic society,” he said.

Karimov noted that the Constitutional Court plays an important role in the development of law in the country through the official interpretation of several constitutional norms and legislation in various spheres.
