Azerbaijan, Germany explore future cooperation in interfaith dialogue
On June 26, 2025, a high-level meeting took place between Azerbaijani and German officials to discuss prospects for deepening interfaith dialogue and bilateral cooperation.
The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organisations, who met in Berlin with Thomas Rachel, Germany’s Commissioner for Religious Freedom, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The meeting focused on the development of interfaith dialogue between the two nations and opportunities to enhance collaboration in areas related to religious tolerance and mutual understanding.
Chairman Mammadov emphasised Azerbaijan’s strong commitment to fostering peaceful coexistence among various religious and ethnic communities. He outlined the key pillars of the country’s state policy, which supports religious diversity and promotes tolerance as a foundation of national unity.
In response, Commissioner Rachel expressed Germany’s appreciation for Azerbaijan’s efforts in promoting interfaith harmony. He noted that the attention and care given to religious diversity in Azerbaijan are highly regarded by Germany and reflect shared values.
The sides also exchanged views on several other topics of mutual interest, highlighting the potential for further cooperation in promoting global religious freedom and intercultural understanding.
