A solemn event commemorating the 107th anniversary of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces was held in Tashkent on June 25.
The ceremony brought together Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Huseyn Guliyev, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Defence, Alisher Narbayev, as well as military attachés accredited in Uzbekistan, prominent scholars and cultural figures, and members of the Azerbaijani diaspora, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Colonel Samir Efendiyev, Head of the Azerbaijani Military Attaché Office in Uzbekistan, opened the event by welcoming the guests and speaking about the strong and enduring friendship between the Azerbaijani and Uzbek peoples.
He underscored the crucial role played by the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan — Ilham Aliyev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev — in deepening cooperation between the two nations. Colonel Efendiyev also provided detailed insight into the ongoing reforms within Azerbaijan’s modern army, which were initiated by National Leader Heydar Aliyev.
He proudly recalled Azerbaijan’s decisive victory in the 44-day Patriotic War five years ago, praising the skilful and professional performance of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.
The event highlighted the expanding military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, which continues to grow stronger through joint exercises and bilateral events.
Attendees were also treated to a cultural performance, as members of the "Azerbaijan" dance ensemble from the Heydar Aliyev Cultural Centre in Uzbekistan showcased traditional Azerbaijani dances.
The ceremony concluded with a formal reception where guests enjoyed a selection of Azerbaijani national dishes.
