China refuses to accept two Russian airlines' Boeing, Airbus cargo planes
The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has announced the closure of the country's airspace for Boeing 757 aircraft, which belongs to the Russian cargo airline Aviastar-TU.
The airspace was closed to five aircraft with "double registration". They do not meet the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Interfax reports, quoting a source in the industry.
If the airline continues to make flights to China, penalties will be imposed on Aviastar-TU.
Beijing has closed its airspace not only for Boeing aircraft of Aviastar-TU, but also for Airbus of iFly, which operated cargo flights to China on these aircraft, RBK reports, citing two sources in the industry.
The source of RBK explains the ban on flights over China is explained by the fact that in May, Chinese aviation authorities asked all airlines, not just Russian ones, to update electronic dossiers.
It is standard procedure to request such documents. Russian airlines that fly to this Asian country have updated the information.
However, Beijing has requested supporting documentation indicating that imported Russian carriers' aircraft have been officially deregistered in other countries.
The airlines were unable to provide such documentation.
