16 January 2025 20:15

A delegation from China’s Dongfang Electronics Corporation visited the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, including Fuzuli and Hadrut, on January 16, following meetings in Baku.

The delegation was led by Deputy General Director of Dongfang Electronics Shudong Cao, along with Wei Liu, Director of the Central Asian branch, and other key officials. Azerishig OJSC, Azerbaijan’s state-owned electricity distribution company, was also represented during the visit, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

During their time in Fuzuli and Hadrut, the delegation was given comprehensive briefings on the reconstruction projects underway in the region, all of which have been supported by the Azerbaijani government. The discussions focused on modernizing the electric power infrastructure and exploring future collaboration opportunities in the energy sector. Additionally, the sides exchanged experiences and discussed new areas for cooperation.

The delegation’s itinerary includes a visit to Shusha on January 17, marking another step in fostering bilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and China in energy infrastructure development.

This visit builds upon earlier discussions held at the COP29 climate conference in Baku, where Azerishig OJSC and Dongfang Electronics initiated talks on potential cooperation. On December 5, 2024, Azerishig’s management visited Dongfang Electronics’ headquarters in Yantai, China, to explore innovative technologies, products, and international projects offered by the corporation.

Dongfang Electronics, a leader in the creation and management of Smart Grid systems, has successfully implemented projects worldwide, particularly in solar energy production, energy storage, and SCADA control solutions. The company’s portfolio includes notable projects such as energy storage depots in Ukraine and a 22 MW solar panel project in Shandong, China.

During their visit, the delegation had the opportunity to explore Dongfang Electronics' production facilities, where they were introduced to triangular transformers with amorphous cores, high-precision measuring devices, and camera measuring boxes. A highlight of the visit was the company’s smart meters, which are equipped with modern communication protocols (RS, GPRS, PLC) and can simultaneously measure gas, water, and electricity usage.

The visit is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen ties and foster innovation-driven cooperation between Azerbaijan and Dongfang Electronics. The delegation's visit will conclude on January 19, marking a significant step in expanding technological and energy partnerships between the two nations.

A delegation from Dongfang Electronics, a leading Chinese company, recently visited key locations in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, including Fuzuli, Hadrut, and Shusha, to familiarize themselves with the reconstruction efforts undertaken by Azerishiq OJSC, a state-owned electricity distribution company.

The purpose of the visit was to gain insight into the rapid progress of the energy infrastructure rebuilding process, supported by the Azerbaijani government, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

During the visit, the Chinese delegation was briefed on the modernization of the energy system in these regions and discussed the prospects for future cooperation between Azerishiq and Dongfang Electronics.

This visit follows initial discussions held during the COP29 climate conference in Baku, where both parties explored expanding their collaboration. In December 2024, Azerishiq’s representatives traveled to Dongfang Electronics’ headquarters in Yantai, China, where they were introduced to the company’s innovative technologies, products, and international projects.

The current delegation, led by Deputy General Director Shudong Cao, includes nine members, and their visit to Azerbaijan kicked off on January 13. The meetings, which are set to conclude on January 19, aim to facilitate the exchange of expertise and explore innovative solutions for energy infrastructure modernization.

Global interest in Azerishiq’s sustainable energy solutions grows

Araz Mammadzada, Director of the Education and Innovation Center at Azerishiq, highlighted the increasing international interest in Azerbaijan's energy solutions.

Since the COP29 conference, several foreign companies, particularly from China, have expressed strong interest in collaborating with Azerishiq, he explained.

Mammadzada pointed out that representatives from several Asian and African countries have shown particular enthusiasm for Azerishiq’s modern 35/0.4 kV network model, which the company has showcased at multiple international platforms. The network is based entirely on "green" technologies and designed to minimize energy losses, ensuring high energy efficiency and an uninterrupted power supply. This innovative model has drawn attention from various global stakeholders, further solidifying Azerbaijan’s position as a leader in sustainable energy solutions.
