Colombia hands over drug lord Usugu to US More than 120 arrest warrants issued against him.
Colombian authorities have handed over the leader of the Gulf Clan drug cartel, Antonio Usugu, nicknamed Otoniel, to the US Drug Enforcement Administration, CNN Espanol reports. This information is confirmed by Colombian President Iván Duque.
According to a statement from the Colombian Ministry of Defense, Otoniel will be extradited to the United States, where he is wanted on charges of drug trafficking.
Usuga was detained in Colombia last October. A file from the Colombian Attorney General's Office shows that at the time of his arrest, Usugi had at least 122 arrest warrants issued on charges of drug trafficking, conspiracy to commit a crime, murder and money laundering. The Colombian police and Duque called Otoniel one of the most dangerous drug dealers.
Usuga pleaded not guilty to the charges after his arrest.
