Construction of Toganali-Kalbajar-Istisu road, Murovdag tunnel underway PHOTO/VIDEO

The State Road Agency of Azerbaijan continues construction of the Toganali-Kalbajar-Istisu road and Murovdag tunnel.

The Agency informed Caliber.Az that one of the important road infrastructure projects to be implemented in Karabakh and East Zangazur economic regions is the Toganali-Kalbajar-Istisu road with a length of 82 km. The designed length of the road connecting the Goygol and Kalbajar districts is 56 km in the Toganali-Kalbajar section and 26 km in the Kalbajar-Istisu section.  The Murovdag range starts from the 16th km section of the Toganali-Kalbajar project, and the height ranges from 1,900 m to 3,250 m at the peak of Murovdag.

In this section, the construction of the Murovdag tunnel, which will be one of the longest automobile tunnels in the world, is underway. The tunnel will have two traffic lanes in one direction and will be 12 meters wide. Moreover, the construction of three tunnels with lengths of 561.2 m, 605.1 m, and 888 m is under construction.
