Cyprus to transport Russian businessman’s body to Moscow
The body of former "Uralkali" (Russian potash fertiliser producer and exporter) CEO Vladislav Baumgertner will be transported from Cyprus to Moscow, according to the businessman’s acquaintance, Alexey Dozortsev.
“Of course. The farewell and funeral will take place in Moscow,” he said, adding that the exact date will be announced later, once all documents are processed in Cyprus and the body is ready for transfer to the capital, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
On January 15, the Telegram channel “112” reported that Baumgertner’s body had been identified in Cyprus, with the main cause of death considered an accident. According to Telegram channel Baza, a DNA test confirmed that the body found along the coast between the villages of Pissouri and Avdimou belonged to the former Uralkali head.
Baumgertner went missing in Cyprus earlier this year. He was last seen on January 7, leaving his home in Limassol. Local media reported that civil defence units, a helicopter, and drones were involved in the search. The last signal from his mobile phone was registered near the village of Pissouri, which was subsequently cordoned off.
On January 14, Cypriot authorities discovered Baumgertner’s body in a remote and rugged coastal area where search teams had concentrated their efforts.
